Samsung Expands AI Startup Presence at CES 2026 Through C-Lab Pavilion

Samsung Electronics announced that 15 startups supported by its innovation program, C-Lab, will participate in CES 2026, held in Las Vegas from January 6 to 9. Samsung will operate a dedicated C-Lab Pavilion at the Venetian Expo’s Eureka Park, a global hub for emerging technologies.

The participating startups span AI, robotics, and digital health, showcasing technologies such as AI-based mental health sound solutions, on-device multimodal language models, pet disease analysis, and enterprise video generation. Notably, seven of the 15 startups originated from regional C-Lab hubs in cities such as Daegu and Gwangju, highlighting the expansion of Samsung’s regional innovation ecosystem.

C-Lab startups received strong recognition at CES 2026, winning a total of 17 CES Innovation Awards, including two Best of Innovation honors. Since launching C-Lab in 2012, Samsung has supported 959 internal and external ventures and plans to surpass 1,000 startups in the coming year.

LG Electronics to Unveil AI Home Robot ‘LG CLOiD’ at CES 2026

LG Electronics will debut its new home robot, LG CLOiD, at CES 2026, marking a significant step in its AI-powered home strategy. CLOiD is a humanoid-style robot equipped with two arms and five-fingered hands, designed to assist with household tasks and interact naturally with users.

The robot leverages AI to recognize and learn from its surroundings while adapting to residents’ schedules and lifestyles. It is also expected to function as an AI home assistant capable of controlling connected appliances.

To advance its robotics capabilities, LG has established the HS Robotics Research Lab and expanded partnerships with domestic and global robotics firms and research institutions. Through CLOiD, LG continues to promote its vision of a “Zero Labor Home,” where AI and robotics reduce everyday household burdens.

Kakao Accelerates National AI Infrastructure with Large-Scale GPU Deployment

Kakao announced that it has completed the deployment of 2,040 GPUs across 255 nodes at its Ansan data center as part of a government-led GPU procurement initiative. This represents approximately 84% of Kakao’s allocated capacity and exceeds its original year-end target by more than four times.

The company emphasized its focus on operational stability, implementing advanced power and cooling systems, including a hot aisle containment system optimized for high-performance GPU servers.

Starting in early 2026, Kakao will provide these computing resources to selected academic, industrial, and research projects through a national AI computing portal. The company will also offer its cloud-native AI platform, Kubeflow, to support efficient machine learning workflows.

Kakao Enterprise Completes Edge Cloud Testbed at Mongolia’s National University of Science and Technology

Kakao Enterprise announced the completion of an edge cloud testbed at the National University of Science and Technology in Mongolia. The project is part of the KOICA Platform ESG Initiative, which aims to foster cloud talent development and digital infrastructure in emerging regions.

The edge cloud system enables real-time data processing closer to data sources, reducing latency and improving network efficiency. Kakao Enterprise supported the project from initial system design to hardware installation, validation, and operational guidelines.

Building on this foundation, the company plans to collaborate with Mongolian partners on a national cloud data center master plan in 2026, positioning the project as a case study in cross-border cloud technology cooperation.
